Using Hop Pellets

Post by Scree » Wed Oct 17, 2012 1:01 pm

I normally dont, but a friend in the US has brought me over some Chinook and Cascade Pellets. I don't think he fancied getting the whole hops thru customs. So is there anything I need to know. I am guessing weight wise use the same amount? Should I expect any difference in results? Change the boil times to get the same affect? What bout dry hopping? that sort of thing. I normally don't use a hop bag. Thanks.

Brew as u would with whole hops, according to the AA%. Pros, less wort absorption. Do a good whirlpool if u do not intend to use hop bags/socks

For bittering use 10% less than whole.
For late additions use the same.

No I don't use one, just a pen and note book normally. I'll push my recipe through one of the on line ones thanks.
