i've been reading http://www.howtobrew.com to further my knowledge about AG brewing and i have a question.
has anybody applied a multi-rest mash schedule to improve their yield? or is this process un-necessary?
Multi-Rest Mashing
Hi BrewStew
Great to finally see another brewer in Northant's (although Mashman is from kettering I believe.) Anyways yes Palmers site is great & the book is well worth buying, it really does cover everything and is geared towards teaching you how to design your own beer not just how to follow recipes. Multi step mashes are only really necessary for certain speciality beers, they are common for lagers as European malts used to have inferior enzymatic properties. For 90% of beers a single infusion can and will yield you 65-80%.
