0.23 kg Carapils
0.17 Chocolate
67 degrees for 90 mins
15 grm Syrian Goldings 5% 60 min
15 grm Fuggles 4.5% 60 min
15 grm Syrian Goldings 30 min
15 grm Fuggles 30 min
23 l, og 1052
whirfloc tab 20 mins
Safale so4

Anybody got any additions to this? i'd like to hear your opinion before i start :D

I have no additions being an amateur, but I would love to know how it turns out for you. I'm rather partial to the odd bottle of Hobgoblin. :D

Your expected OG looks a bit low.
Efficiency would have to drop to about 60% to only get 1052 from all the grain.
Promash gives 1059 at 70%, and 1068 at 80% 8)

Colour looks fine as does the hopping.

Enjoy your brewday!

Just noticed my Syrian Goldings are 3.8% and not 4.5% so if i add 17.75 ish grams instead of the 15 it should be the same, right?

another problem the swimbo just notified me that she's working tomorrow so i'd like to kick off this evening instead, how long do the hops need to defrost before i can use them?

(btw I agree with Mix, the OG is off, I use lower figures than promash and get 1057 at 70%)
Thanks Daab

You don't need to defrost them - just take them out the freezer shortly before you want to use them

Yeah i think i read somewhere that Orfy set it deliberately low for beginners and the like, you could probably reduce the grains down and still be over the target.

Good luck with it =)

Was privileged enough to visit The South once. There was a pub called The Hobgoblin and they served Hobgoblin which was nice, from Wychwood glasses which were awesome. They also had a Hobgoblin mirror which was too big to sleeve! The beer's probably the single reason I got into proper ale so am interested to know if this comes close to tasting like it. It may yet end up being the reason I go AG!
