Just wondering if anyone has ever put lager into a corni and used a CO2/N2 mixed gas to dispence?
Im wondering because i want to put a lager in my corni but i only have a mixed gas cylinder and im not really wanting to invest in another cylinder.
Would it have any effects on the lager its self?
cheers
Lager on CO2/N2 mix?
The gas you use isn't just a propellant to drive the liquid out. It also gets absorbed in the beer. CO2 is what makes drinks fizzy and N2 is what makes stouts creamy. The same effect happens to any beer - stout, bitter or lager. So unless you happen to like smoothflow lager don't use mixed gas to serve them.
Before i got a bottle of 100 % CO2, i was using a bottle of suremix 50:50 N2 CO2.
I used this on my golden ales and a couple of vienna style lagers (fermented with whitelabs steam beer lager yeast).
Any beers i used it on were nice and creamy (just like you'd expect) but weren't really carbonated enough, certainly it never ruined the beer just sort of left you thinking it was missing something (CO2 bite and fizz

Timely topic indeed....
My CO2 ran out at the weekend also leaving me with just mixed gas.
I went to my usual local Flogas agent to get a refill and he refused to swap my old Whitbreads cylinder
I thought the main refill station could have just replaced the top collar/handle and put it back in the distribution chain.
Now Whitbreads no longer have any pub interests how do i get my refill?

Check out the beers we have for sale @ Mix Brewery
Would he give you a new cylinder of a different type? If not try AirLiquide distributors. If you can't shift your old cylinder try taking it to the dump (or 'recycling center' as I believe we now call them) - the one near me has a cage for gas cylinders of all sorts.mixbrewery wrote: My CO2 ran out at the weekend also leaving me with just mixed gas.
