Brewing from the garden tap

Post by AceMcAce » Thu May 28, 2015 12:51 pm

Hi Guys

Quick question before I do my first AG brew in a few weeks.

I'm lazy. I'm going to be brewing outside. I can't be bothered lugging 50l of water from the kitchen to the HLT

Am I alright to fill the HLT from an outside tap with a hose pipe?

I'd drink the water out of that tap to save me going inside, and it's going to be boiled up anyway, so I assume it would be ok?

I run a blue drinking water hose upto my brewshed and no problems with taste.
I do run fresh water through it before use for a few minutes.

I plan on using one of these - our Combi is mains fed so going to pump hot tapwater in to the HLT then throw in a campden tablet.

I'll soon be brewing outside and will be using food grade silicon hose. Removes any problems with contaminates.
Best wishes

I am still using the regular outside tap and garden hose, just flushing it through for a minute or 2 - making great beer !!!
