Jim's ESB Brewalong 24th-25th October 2015

Post by Jim » Fri Sep 18, 2015 12:57 pm

Get set for the JBK Brewalong this October! :)

We're brewing Jim's ESB, a tried and tested recipe that we put together earlier this year. It turned out to by a cracking pint, so let's see how much we can make between us!

RECIPE: -
85% Maris Otter,
5% Pale Crystal,
5% Caramalt and
5% Torrefied Wheat
...to make OG 50.

Bittering hops Challenger to 50 IBU ,
15 mins from end Progress (40g),
Flame out EKGs (40g).

Own choice of yeast (Recommended - Windsor). Optional dry hop with EKGs in cask.
Feel free to tweak the recipe if you so wish, or if you don't have all the ingredients and want to substitute with what you have in stock.

Rob at The Malt Miller is providing an all grain ingredients kit for this brew, so if you need ingredients, that's the place to go.

That recipe looks fine to me MB - a slight variation but should still be recognisable. :)

Just noticed the dry hop addition in that flyer :-k , and I'm going to alter this coming weekends bitter recipe, so that I can use all Challenger to bitter the ESB.

Will submit a revised recipe in due course.
