Forgot the copper finings!

Post by Hudders » Mon Sep 28, 2015 7:16 pm

Hello, I forgot to add Irish Moss to the end of the boil. Only remembered when I had chilled the wort. Now kicking myself. Is there any chance it will still clear naturally? Will finings in the secondary help (isinglass or gelatine) or will this only clear the suspended yeast. Other than clarity does it matter? I heard it might not store as well? Will it effect the flavour? The beer is a ruby mild btw.

Thanks!

You're not the first, and won't be the last to do this, including me. Don't worry about it, no harm will come to your brew & it should clear up unaided without problem.

I've taken to putting the copper finings in with the late hops when I weigh them out... less chance of forgetting that way.

Done it once, I now have a notice at eye level behind boiler "PROTAFLOC".
