vanilla porter, a bit thin

Post by D4nny74 » Wed Oct 07, 2015 9:39 am

Made this vanilla porter , been two weeks in the bottle and tried a sample but its very thin on mouth feel, Just realised I mashed at 66 and not 68,will that be it ?
I did add some vanilla pods soaked in about 4 shots of vodka in before bottling

Any advise would be great

66 isn't that low, I suspect the brown sugar might have thinned it a bit.

Do you only get 54% efficiency on a grain father?

Have to do it again without the brown sugar :)

kev93_10 , no most have been between 74-84% , but this one was well low, I think it was due to high grain bill and low sparge amount

Cheers
