The May/June 2017 issue of Brew Your Own has an article on darkening light color beers.

cold steeping (as opposed to mashing) darker malts is supposed to give less flavour contribution. I’ve never tried it myself, but it’s worth considering.

If it was only 1-2% of the grain bill, I’d be tempted just to mash the darker ‘colour’ grains. Maybe a dehusked black malt like Carafa Special.
