Thanks Jim, its not the exact one I had in mind, but it certainly looks along similar lines.

I emailed late last night and got a prompt reply today. He replied from enquiries(at)phoenix-analytical.co.uk, so that might be a better address to get him on.

He said he would be running the next round of analysis on about the 15th Oct so if others are interested, you've got a couple of weeks to get in there. Cost is £26. The test covers:
Sodium
Potassium
Magnesium
Calcium
Chloride
Nitrate
Phosphate
Sulphate
Total alkalinity expressed as calcium carbonate
pH
electrical conductivity
total residual chlorine
You're absolutely correct but he emailed yesterday confirming details and that he needs the sample (250-500ml tap water) in good time, so wants it by 13th October at the latest. If anyone has not contacted him already they probably need to do so ASAP so he can send you his address and details of how to take and send the sample etc.

Mine is packaged ready to drop into the post office tomorrow.

Need to get mine sorted before they change back to reservoir water rather than the Borehole water we've had for the summer :(

So, do I have 'good' water? It looks OK when it comes out of the tap. :=P

@LeeH - your alkalinity looks pretty high to me; you're going to need some kind of treatment to get it down.

Thanks Jim, I normally follow the Murphys instructions but will try Wallys results and the calculator on here.

I received my results earlier in the week. Not much has changed since my last report in 2015, nothing materially anyway.

I am in Airdrie (Glasgow is always easier to mention) so only 20 odd miles out from yourself.

Yeah that's fairly typical soft scottish water, (im in glasgow and it's essentially the same) great for brewing as all you have to do is add stuff and not worry about having too much of anything :)

Edinburgh has a bit harder water but still good by and large and Orkney and/or Shetland have some pretty wacky water at times, I presume because they are so low lying and the sea water obviously poses a problem.
