CO2 Regulator panic

Hi guys,

So my very shiny but very cheap Chinese gas regulator just arrived. I have beer to carb. Feels like good built quality. I go to attach it to my gas cylinder and damnit the thread is ever so slightly smaller and it won't fit!

Photo below. What have I done? Is there an adapter/workaround or have I just wasted £20?

The advert says its a G1/2 fitting, which isn't a standard uk/european CO2 cylinder thread (called various things, including BS 341-No. 8, DIN477-6). I don't think its for the american cylinders either, as these are CGA320.

Its not really my world, but I isn't G1/2-14 a thread used with paintball stuff?

It seems like UK gas bottles are 5/8 male and this regulator is 1/2 female. One blimmin size apart! I haven't got anything with a 5/8 female thread to check but that makes sense.

Now where on earth can I find a 5/8 female x 1/2 male nut/reducer/adapter thingy from that also doesn't cost as much as a regulator!

So annoying!

If thats BSP (and assuming you're correct) then there are hydraulic adaptors available for a few quid. If in doubt though, it could be worth dropping PeeBee a message in case he knows for sure; not sure if he will but he has used various non pub-standard CO2 gubbins in his setup.

I think its right, the regulator is definitely 1/2 female (tried with a spare plumbing fitting) but I can't find a hydraulic fitting of the type I need online anywhere. Could you point me to a few?

I found one on eBay but it is a strange version and not cheap.

I've not bought any recently so sadly no idea where is a good supplier, but this sort of thing was what I had in mind. (you'd need to check pressure rating - and polarity, they seem to do them both ways around).

EDIT: I didn't check postage costs either; can't immediately see them
