wonder what will happen with hops as pretty much all breweries will have contracts for them.

I think Malt Miller delivery was 6 tons of base malt (?MO) today, so it seems there will be no real shortage.

No idea of their stock levels but I have good experience of dealing with the home brew company. The malt is excellent and the prices are good.

Let's hope it's just short term. Even if the super fast delivery suffers it would be good to see MM open again.

Or might it count as 'non essential' under the new arrangements and be forced to stay closed?

In theory I am due to collect a few sacks of malt from Muntons in Stowmarket on Thursday, but not sure it's wise given the latest situation...
Fermenting: nowt
Conditioning: English IPA/Bretted English IPA
Drinking: Sunshine Marmalade, Festbier, Helles Bock, Smokey lagery beer, Irish Export StoutCascade APA (homegrown hops), Orval clone, Impy stout, Duvel clone, Conestoga (American Barley wine)

That's quite a walk for your daily constitutional; perhaps 15 miles each way, with a sack or two on your back on the way home. 8)

The two local farms/maltsters I use have shut their gates and the one that also does bread flour is in meltdown. The other one has got a sack on next day delivery no probs. So if anyone is looking for pale malt Alison at https://www.craftymaltsters.co.uk/products will supply 25kg for £32.52 delivered by Parcelforce. I believe she can do smaller amounts as well, crushed or whole.

I think the Malt Miller has plenty of stock, they have stopped taking orders as they have so many to process and have a staff shortage.

They started taking orders last night but the site was crashed by the huge number of orders. They have suspended orders again to clear the back log.

I think we all need to calm down and stop "panic buying".
