Hi all im not new to brewing but seem to have forgot a few things. Last brew was in 2016. Ive done a salifert alkilinity test today and the reading was 9.9 am i right in thinking i multiply this by 50 to get a result to put in the water treatment calculator?
If thats right the calculator is telling me to add 62.2ml of CRS to 24 litres water. That seems high even for my hard water.
I need to contact yorkshire water for an up to date report but ive entered what i have on the water treatment calculator.
THANKS

Re: help with water treatment (just CRS)
Do you mean the syringe showed 9.9 when the indicator turned pink?
The newer Salifert kits have a different table of results and the value is shown in something called dKH. This has to be multiplied by 17.85 to get the alkalinity in ppm.
What value did your syringe show when the colour change happened?

No the solution turned pink on the syringe at 0.36 which looking at the sheet with the salifert kit gives 9.9 i used to multiply by 50

0.36 is, indeed, 9.9dKH. You multiply this by 17.85 to get an alkalinity of 177 ppm. Does that sound more reasonable for your water?
Guy
Ps your 50 multiplication factor was exactly right when the Salifert kits gave you the answer in meq/l. (9.9 dKH = 3.53 meq/l. X 50 = 176.5 !!)
