Recipe help for a first all grain brew
Hi all,
I am wanting recipe suggestions for my first all grain brew/s please. Something easy enough but with lots of flavour and 6% abv or above. I like ipa and very hoppy ales but not malty ones and also porters and imperial stout.
The beers I regularly drink are:-
Vocation life and death
Elvis juice
Bad co dipa 2
Bad co dipa 3
Punk ipa
Any recipes and advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance

What limits (malts, hops, yeast, equipment and costs) are you trying to work under?
Re: Recipe help for a first all grain brew
If you like BrewDog stuff, as has already been mentioned, the DIY Dog PDF is your friend. You can also checkout websites like Brewer's Friend, as users upload and share all sorts of recipes. There are also some open source recipes, like Yeastie Boys Digital IPA, which is now brewed in the UK and can be bought in the supermarket (I can remember paying £7 for half a pint of imported keg once).
Whatever you do, don't forget to add some oak husks, or something similar to your mash. Getting a stuck mash can be a real pain in the arse...

I like beer --- Currently rebuilding the brewery, this time with stainless...

Re: Recipe help for a first all grain brew
You might find the Brewdog recipes quite complex, using numerous different relatively expensive American hops.
If you like porters, a much simpler start would be Rob’s export porter from The Malt Miller. It is excellent, even without the Dry hop addition, which would make it cheaper, easier and less prone to infection for your first attempt.
PS oat husks prevent stuck mashes above.

Re: Recipe help for a first all grain brew
I know you like Brew Dog beers but it's more difficult to do a Good Clone than one might think and you don't want your first AG to disapoint.
You may be better off doing a couple of simple SMASH (single hop and single malt) brews while you get to know the process and your equipment.

Re: Recipe help for a first all grain brew
Thanks to you all for the advice it is much appreciated. I am hoping to get my equipment soon and want a little bit more advice please regarding my potential purchase of a bag for my mash tun. What are the pros and cons of using a mash bag.
Many thanks

Re: Recipe help for a first all grain brew
Collecting and disposing of sparged spent grain from your mashtun is APITA. Well it is to me!
A mash bag obviously retains the grains so all you have to do is lift the bag out of the mashtun and dump the grains without the messy collecting and rinsing.
If you wish to go down that route make sure you purchase one as large as your tun, and the base of the bag has a course enough gauze to allow a good flow, otherwise you may experience a stuck mash.
I’ve had mine branded by Richie products in the past but there is a company on the net that specialises in them.
If I can locate I will give you the link.

Once drained put a bin bag over the mash tun invert it and the grain drops into the bag, the bag goes into the bin.
