Except most of what you pay for in a pub - isn't the beer. It's paying for the real estate, heating, insurance, someone to serve it, someone to clean the toilets, someone to clean the lines and sanitise the container it comes in. All that costs more than the beer.guypettigrew wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 9:22 amSome huge approximations here, but let's assume I'm saving about £4 a pint compared to pub prices. Saving lots more compared to prices up in London!
And for those who want to buy naturally conditioned beer commercially - most breweries will be happy to sell to you. To take a random example, Wold Top will sell 20l naturally-conditioned beer in a bag for £55 (say £1.60/pint), and at retail you can buy beer in an actual cask for around £75 inc VAT for a pin, so say 34 pints actual yield for £2.20/pint. Or buy a firkin for about £80+VAT for say 68 pints yield (£1.40/pint).
