Just tried my second Styrian Stunner and it is awesome! Best I've done...
A couple of my all grain brews have had what seems like a grainy, not unpleasant taste... could this be due to mash temperature? This brew had to have the temp increased with some boiling water after half an hour as it was dropping to 62 rather than the 65 it started off as.
Styrian is very nice - taste?

Is this stronger than your other beers? If so maybe you're oversparging the others a tad?retourrbx wrote: A couple of my all grain brews have had what seems like a grainy, not unpleasant taste... could this be due to mash temperature? I think it might be just that I'm not leaving them for long enough - had a taste after it's been bottled for a couple of weeks and it seems to have gone.
Things I did differently... mash went down to 60 degrees after 30mins so probably wasnt near the 65 that I wanted for long so added a litre of boiling water and reduced the sparge water by a litre. Also changed the hop schedule
75g 3% at 60mins
55g 3% at 0mins once under 80'C
20g 3% dry
It'll be interesting to see what it's like after a couple of weeks of bottling without the hops actually being there. As it stands now the hop flavour is excellent!
Started at 1.042 and is now at 1.008 so 4.4% strength
Went down very well last night
