18000feet mini mash

Post by soakins » Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:23 am

I have just been reading the 'mini-mash' recipe/method at http://www.18000feet.com/minimash/page1.htm. Has anyone tried this? It looks like a good way to try out recipes!

I did the mini-mash thing as per Daabs instructions several times before going full on all grain. I achieved good results every time.
I still mini-mash if I want just a few bottles of something.

The website you refer to is that of one of the Site Admins, many folk here myself included have tried mini mashing with great results. I must warn you though once you've tasted the beer you make you'll be hunting round for a boiler in order to make full sized batches

Yup, that's how I started out. Did 2 and was hooked.

Now do the same as most, 23 ltr. batches

i started with a few mini-mashes, i'm up to an 8L 'midi-mash' now and as long as he can get it down the chimney i think santa will be bringing me a 5 gallon brewery for xmas- it's a slippery slope.

I tried this with just pale malt and goldings and it turned out a very tasty (but not very clear) but plain beer.

It was a hell of a lot of work for 6 bottles of beer BUT very entertaining and educational making it.
