Can anyone recommend a decent and accurate set of scales, got 2 digital ones and neither give the same readings both of them are slightly out.s.f.

For larger weights I use ordanary Kitchin scales That go upto 3Kgs. For larger amounts of grain I dont think you need to be too accurate.

For smaller amounts and hops I found a set of 'Slimmers' scales in Sainsburys. They are made by Salter and messure upto 500 Grams.

For relatively inaccurate weighing (> 500g) then a Digital Fish scales are pretty good to use, I got a set weighing up to 30Kg for under 20 quid at my local fish shop. I've also used the digital bathroom scales in the past.

I have a set of Digital kitchen scales for up to 1kg, which again are pretty accurate compared to my calibration weights, they are EKS model and came from Argos

For hops and mineral additions I have a set of Scales Similar to these which are ideal for really accurate weighing. Try a Search on Scales in fleaBay and you'll get all sorts comming up.

I'm sure most people that buy those scales don't use them for hops....other 'herbs' maybe.

So what do you use to calibrate your 1L container? A set of scales and see if it comes out as 1Kg? :D

For those looking for accuracy you should be able to pick up a calibration weights for abut £4.
