Beer Exposed - Islington - September 08

Just joined the forum, but I thought I'd check and see if anyone else attended this back in September at the BDC in Islington.

I've been to a few festivals over the years, but this was billed as something different, which I'm pleased to say was right on the money.

The best part about the whole evening was chatting face to face with the people that actually brew the beer that you and I drink (when we pay someone else for it!).

Got chatting to the boys from Brew Dog in Aberdeen (Punk IPA) and a very knowledgeable chap from Thornbridge (Jaipur), two similar beers but totally different philosophies.

I also managed to introduce myself to Pete Brown (author of "Man Walks Into a Pub" and "Three Sheets to the Wind" - read them if you haven't), who turned out to be a top bloke and was instrumental in me snaffling a free bottle of lovely Jaipur.

There's masses of beer to try and it's not all real ale, quite a few continental lagers were on display (Tyskie, Budvar), as well as a good smattering of USA brews.

I didn't keep count, but reviewing the programme the following day I reckon that I sampled at least 30 different beers.

I paid £17 to get in and came away very pissed with at least £12 worth of bottled beer and a nice ½ pint tasting glass.

Anyway, if you are within striking distance of North London, this should be one for the 2009 diary. I don't think dates are announced yet, but keep a look out http://www.beerexposed.com

Cheers

Dave

PS I am not and never have been in the employ of the organisers or the BDC!
