SCB Brewers Meeting - Wednesday 17th December
Masonic Hall, Elgin House, 6 Easter Road, Edinburgh

A reminder of the midweek meeting next week. The theme is Wheat Beer so there may well be a some Hefe's and Wit's on offer to taste. Again, do not be put off if you have another style of beer that you would like to bring along as all beers are welcome. Indeed, even if you have no beers ready at the moment then come along and join is - it might make you want to bring something along next time.
For details on how the last meeting went please see the link below:

On top of the tasting of members beers we will be prepering for the liquid yeast trial for our English Bitters night in March. I will have a list of the yeasts that are available and we will be looking to order the yeast through Edina Homebrew in so that Davie has time to order and have them ready for the January meeting (I will provide the list of WYeast types and descriptions).
At the last meeting we talked about recycling some older equipment and I asked for members to let me know of any equipment that they no longer use and would be willing to pass on to other members. So far I have the following information:
2 x King Keg 25L plastic Keg
30 gallon stainless steel pot
4 cornies
Accutrave - SS medical equipment steriliser which can be used as a 5 gallon boiler
So if you are free on Wednesday night pop along and get involved. Please drop me a note if you have any questions.
Scottish Craft Brewer Midweek Meeting - Wednesday 17th Dec
Re: Scottish Craft Brewer Midweek Meeting - Wednesday 17th Dec
Can't make this one - I'm going down to London that afternoon, but I intend to start coming in the new year.
Whats the idea re the yeast trial? Everyone brews the same recipe with different wyeasts then compares the beers? I'm game anyway...

Good stuff, the more the merrier. We have still to decide on the exact plan for the yeast trial but I think it will go down the route you suggest so that we can detect the difference the yeast makes. I will certainly post the outcome of the meeting from Wednesday.tomU wrote:Can't make this one - I'm going down to London that afternoon, but I intend to start coming in the new year.

Keep an eye on the SCB Website and if you want to be on the mailing list then give me a shout. We have some really good meetings and events planned for next year so good time to get involved.

No worries Mysty, plenty of time after the important stuff. Hope the exams go well.mysterio wrote:Calum, it's a right bastard that I can't attend this meet, falls right in the middle of my exam period. Hope to catch you's the next time.
If you have time in January try to get along to the meeting on the 25th. It falls on the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns birth so we are going have a short Burns supper (for lunch). There is a also a competition where the winner will get to have there beer brewed at John McGarva's Tryst Brewery in Larbert. On top of that we hope to get a hold of the Enthusiast pack from Flavour Active so that we can have some examples of beer faults before we taste the competition entries. I think is should be a really good event.
Also, let me know if you fancy participating in the liquid yeast trial - the beer is due for the March meeting so plenty of time.
