Absolutely. Never been so thirsty.

I went into the Barley Mow in Birtley a few times recently. They have around 14 different Ales on.
They had St Austeel Tribute, Fuller London Pride and an absolutly superb TT Landlord. They also have a few of the Mordue beers etc.
Might be worth a look?

That would be a doddle for me to get to, but it might be a bit of a trek for some coming from the south of the County.Normski wrote:I went into the Barley Mow in Birtley a few times recently. They have around 14 different Ales on.

I've not been over that way for a while - did the natives appear friendly in there?

Re: North East Home brew club....next installment
Hi Jim
Yeah the natives were very friendly.
They have live music on Thursday and Saturday nights.
There is also a nice quiet large saloon bar.

Well, not wishing to knock the Barley Mow, but the last time I was there, the beer was crap. There was music and bands would practised upstairs. OK, OK, OK, it was 1962, but seriously, I would have trouble getting home from an event there.
Dare I suggest Fitzgerald's in Sunderland? I know it's renown to be manic on Fridays, but in reality that occurs between 9:00 and 10:00, we'd be comfortably seated before any rush.
There are usually between 8 and 10 real ales, usually in perfect condition, five minutes walk from the bus and Metro station.

1962. Ha ha. That’s priceless Eric.
Im happy where ever the meet is. It’s the beer that’s paramount for me.
Maybe Alix would like to make some suggestions.

I've checked with Garth and he's in Kefalonia. Surprisingly, he won't be coming over to join us.
Has anyone been in contact with Scotty? I don't have a phone number for him.
