THE GREAT WHITE SHIELD TASTING. CAMBRIDGE, 18 DEC

Members' meetings, Beer Festivals and the like - bung it on here. Old topics will be pruned after 3 months.

Good to see the hard core there, cannot wait for the pics.... :^o

I concede that I lost the White shield experiment, my beer was probably the most unlike "White Shield" of the lot. . I wonder how I would do if I bought the correct beer next time :?:

Well one benefit will be that when Shane finally turns up at the next session he will have my White Shield as a comparison as I'm convinced I will have drunk all my Smoked London Porter by then and won't be able to make the mistake again.

Great night, hope everyone got home safely

Cheers

Well....It was another good evening scoffing chestnuts, drinking and talking bo**ocks. Took a couple of photo's and i have to say, we look like a bunch of fairly desperate individuals

Here we are then, from left to right: Drew (DrewBrews), Me (jubby, looking a bit worse for wear!) Phil (cooldad. rabbit & headlights spring to mind  ), Steve (Tequilla6), Damian (audley), Jim (Maltloaf). With apologies from Shane (smp465), Kevin (ovenhiker) and Jamie (JabbA) who couldn't make it.

Tequilla6 with a selection of the White Shields on offer. The dark one is his...............he bought the wrong beer

All of the samples were a bit young and i think maltloaf's was a winner. However we need another tasting in January, when the beers have conditioned properly :D

Maltloaf, did you get home OK in the snow?

Looks like a good turn out, gutted I couldn't make it!

Hopefully I can make the second tasting in January, that is if there's any left following New Years Eve!

Cheers,
Jamie

Yup, going slow on the beers was definetly a good move. Very novel sharing the road with just taxis - I think I only saw one private car on the way home. Quite a few bikes though, so I can't be the only loon in town!
It was fascinating to taste the different results of the experiment, although I reckon they'll all change some more by the time we meet again. There's certainly been an incredible evolution as mine gets closer to "ready". Thanks to Tequilla6 for bringing his Inky Porter Ale, not quite to style but a cracking beer.
Cheers all,
ML.

Stick a post up inviting Brighton (and surrounding area) Brewers for a few beers. You might be surprised by the response. It just takes someone to start the ball rolling and before you know it there will be a huge group of brewers meeting/drinking and talking bo**ocks :D

Also if you are a member of the CBA, you will get a list of CBA brewers in your area, which is where a few of the Cambridge group came from.
