AHA -
This thread reawakend.. again!
So, I did it again this year. Fed and watered 15 people for the 2012 version. We tasted seven of my beers and I made 40 litres of the northern english brown ale using the recipe from the Big Brew day website. A good time was had by all.
Weather was gnarly but played nice long enough for us to eat outdoors and I brewed under a brolly in the afternoon.
Fun facts :-
My (nearly blind) old cockerel was the centre of attention and was mincing around getting tidbits from the crowd - I caught him with his head in the grain bucket at the start of the day and couldn't keep him away. He did set fire to his own tail at one point but no harm, no foul. (or Fowl!)
A couple turned up on a 1960 BSA Goldstar - what a great looking old motorcycle.
The BSA broke down on the return trip and is still in one of my barns!
I had an attentive crowd and gave a little talk on brewing/beer making - it went down well.
It's such a delight to get some impartial feedback on my beer.
I discovered that garlicky felafel, tahini sauce and Russian Imperial Stout is a potent combination! Great fun - will do it again next year.
