Congratulations to all who took something home from the competition. I met up with Pokerswazi and Graeme Coates, who took 1st place in Specialty Beers and Strong Bitters respectively - congratulations to you both!

For those who don't know, Pokerswazi went on to take the champion beer award for his NZ pale ale, good to see a fellow countryman (well, close enough!) take the big award :D

Great stuff, well done folks.

Coates... doesn't he win the bloody thing every year? Give someone else a chance mate

My judging bottle of ordinary was infected - how much more chance do I have to give  (the keg and the rest of the bottles from the same batch were absolutely fine when I tried them last #-o #-o At least I have 4 gallons of drinkable beer though  ).

I missed out on pokerswazi's beer which was a shame - but I got to try scarer's and mixbrewery's ones. Bosium, I must have tried your beer too, but for the life of me, can't remember which one it was! Such is beer festivals!

My choice for beer of the day was "Hoppiness is an IPA" which won the IPA/Pale ale class. It was excellent, though Nick Reese's Imperial Stout was very good also (he won the stouts, porter and milds section).

I had an awesome day and was over the moon with the judges comments about my beers. There were plenty good beers there and I tried my best to give them all a taste but my favourite was the Imperial Stout. Well done to all the winners, I'm looking forward to next year.

Pete's Riwaka was my peoples choice so no surprise it was there at the end - you missed a cracker Graham.
They were still judging when we got in at 1:15pm so we started at the other end!!
TonyB reckons he tasted everything on the list - while I was being objective and trying to spot the finer points so only got half way through

As always - a brilliant day - Well done Richard and crew and all the winners. =D> =D> =D>
Check out the beers we have for sale @ Mix Brewery
