Ok, my brew is bottled and ready for delivery.
If I bring it in to beermerchant in person, would I be able to pick up some beers I want to order from your site at the same time?

wow - rapido!

I have no problem with that, but I'd need to be in depot for you, so we'd have to co-ordinate - I am not back in until, perhaps monday? Would be good to meet all the same tho! are you train-ing it or driving?

Sounds good! Shame no lagers. I'll have to think about what to brew.

I fancy trying to do a lager for the summer (for the first time). Any suggestions for a recipe?

You had mentioned it at the last LAB and when the post came up it just so happened that I had a bitter ready for bottling. I'm in no hurry though. I would be driving from Tonbridge.

How about a German Helles, 95% lager/pilsner malt, 5% munich, 1.048, Some Hallertau or Magnum hops to get 18 IBU, then a small amount of Hallertau in the last 15 mins.

Then a lager yeast of your choice, Saflager W34/70 or White Labs Southern German maybe, use 3 packs of the dried or make a big starter and pitch the slurry of the liquid yeast. Ferment at 10 - 12 C then store cold as you can for a while, enjoy!

I do have to say that, for me, if you drew a Venn diagram of 'Beers Bottled in 330ml bottles' and 'Beers under 6.5% ABV' there would be very little at the intersection - in fact currently none. It's also rather more annoying as the other major competition this year stipulates 500ml bottles.

Just saying....

I hear ya steve, I am sure, if push comes to shove and needs be, 50cl bottles will be fine. It was more that it's cheaper to send 33cl's x4 than 50cl's, that was the main reason. I will edit the main rules, for this.

as for the range of beers, there are loads. Rules make for creativity, I am told. I can think of loads of sub 6.5% ales that would be great to brew.

I didn't have a problem with the ABV range itself - I rarely brew above 6.5% myself. I was just saying I only ever bottle in 330ml for beers above that. I almost always bottle in 500ml. I find bottling a major PITA so I try to do as few bottles as possible

BTW, do you have a current list of the hops you can get? Farams don't seem to have updated their website in a while as there are hops I know they can supply but aren't listed.

I do, but I don't have it to hand.

TBh, it's pretty much what brupacks have, plus things like Citra, Bravo, Apollo etc. and the kiwi ones... I will try to post something when I get/find it. I am brewing tomorrow, so I guess it's in the brewery.

Thanks for that - the lager malt is on order. I have a lot of Mount Hood, due you think this would be a suitable replacement for the Hallertau?
