Sutton CBA Homebrew compo - Nov 2008
Anyone know what the requirements are for entry in the Sutton CBA competition ?
i.e. how many bottles do you need to provide per entry ?
Unfortunately they've pulled previous years entry forms/rules from the Cheers website http://www.cheerswinemakingandbrewing.c ... bfest.html
If no-one knows then I'll give Richard a call.

Last year it was minimum 6x500ml bottles up to a corni, all bottles crown-capped and unmarked apart from one which should state beer name, brewer, style and OG. Its a fun little festy, I'll expect there'll be another healthy forum turn out this year

drinking: ~ | conditioning: ~ | primary: ~ | Looks like I need to get brewing then...

Certain competitions (Yorkshire Fed and the big National not the CBA one) will disqualify a beer if there is no sediment (Or no visible sediment) in the bottle. The beer must be served from the bottle it was conditioned in. other competitions award 1 point for a firm minimal sediment.DaaB wrote:(or clear in a corni, force carb and bottle sediment free beer, add a couple of grains of yeast, they'll never know the difference despite telling you otherwise)
Its almost as short sighted as CAMRA's attitude to Cask breathers

To get your beer in good condition to be served arrange for it to arrive a fortnight before the event . . . IIRC all the entries go into cool storage when they arrive so should have cleared by the time of the comp . . . . Or deliver them on the day

As LeMan said you don't want to get any isinglass carried over into your bottles. The 'fluffy bottom' will be very loose and make pouring virtually impossible.
It's the 15th November this year IIRC.
If anyone from Essex/NE London wants beer taken down then let me know as I'll be 'helping' run it again.

What's so unpleasant about being drunk? Ask a glass of water!
Great to see JBK members interested again. Let's make a point of saying hello 'cos I missed quite a few people in Derby. T-shirts at the ready!
PS, who's staying over, and where? I fancy digging local that evening. So many homebrewed beers knock spots of commercially brewed stuff. We're not accountants and a lot of beers are better for that.

Any chance of shoving 18 bottles into your cold store at the brewery when I come down, for subsequent transport to Sutton . . . Doubt if I'll get a pass out for it . . . As usual
