I go each year on the Friday. It's good. The morning tends to be full of tickers by the afternoon the uni revellers get there and make it merry, by the evening the workers descend and make it into a party!

Yep I go on Friday and arrive with the tickers
but have gone for the train when it starts to get going, at least I get a pint at a local before the bus takes me home.
Also going to Chippenham this Saturday, as small but good festival.

Re: Reading beer Festival
I try to get their early. Last year I had my union jack blanket. Depending on weather I'll either take that or my fold up chair.
So meet you all by the pie stall? lol
On all seriousness I hope they have the pie stall from the last two years again. Those pies are good!

Re: Reading beer Festival
The wetlist is up! http://www.readingbeerfestival.org.uk/2 ... list/beers
I'm thinking this year my drinking will be black and white.
For dark beers I can recommend Ascot Ales - Anastasia's exile stout and Keltek - Grim Reaper. Though I'm looking forward to the D&B Porter from backyard brewhouse.
Light beers I'm wanting to try two lagers. Butts Le Butts Biere! and Oakleaf's I can't believe it's not bitter. Though another pint of Bowmans' Elder-ado will be good as will finally tasting FFF-Alton Pride! (The last two pints I had (in Alton it's self) were turned and last year they ran out on the thursday night!)
Harvey's Sussex Mild and Thornbridge's Jaipur IPA are always a stable choice. Mmm! May get some Perry or a mead in as well. Notice the country wine list is not yet up.
Also wonder why the bottle section doesn't have any Meantime beers. Their 'wheat' stands up to most wheat beers I've tried and they're only from Greenwich! Maybe CAMRA should look again at locAle!

Re: Reading beer Festival
Anyone got tips on the best time to get in the queue? A few of us are thinking of heading down for late pm on Saturday but reports of four-hour waits to get in last year are putting me off even trying.

Re: Reading beer Festival
Last year come saturday there were a few dodgy brews left, some emergency locals shipped in and centurion's ghost.
This year they're holding a load of beers back til saturday but the crowds will be awful. Friday night maybe better if you can!

Re: Reading beer Festival
Regularly see Rin Tin Tin around Reading. Isn't that brewed in Twyford?

Camberly I think but I could be wrong!
Are their any pubs that have it on Draught? Wouldn't mind trying a pumped pint of it.
