Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
I'll be along with a bottle of my effort (even if it hasn't cleared).
Also, I've just come back from a little trip over to Europe and I managed to get hold of a bottle of the Trappist beer "you can't get", Westvleteren 12.
Anyone fancy trying it?
Anyone tried it before? Shall I bring it along in case my Bishops Farewell is a bit yeasty

Cheers jubby, I'll be there with my attempt.jubby wrote:It's time for the Bishop's brew-off tasting...
No return to the revamped Cambridge Blue this time? I was looking forward to seeing what they've done with the place.
Ah I bet I know why; it's the lure of the Jaipur on at the Kingston isn't it, jubby?

Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
Hi Chaps,
I've been a bit quiet recently- been busy with work, organising a wedding, getting married and being away on honeymoon! With all that going on I haven't got round to brewing anything for the brew off but I do have a rather disappointing wheat beer on the go! I don't think I've got anything on for Friday, hopefully I can make it.
Cheers,
Jamie

Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
I'll be there. And probably not partaking of the round of Jaipur, you nutters! I'll be bringing a cold beer for the brew off - I haven't tried a bottle yet but the cornie bursts out of the tap into a pint of froth! The bottle will be chilled in case it has the same idea
Cheers all,
ML.

Cheers all,
ML.
Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
I'm fearing the same ML! I've not bothered to dial the conditioning fridge down so instead of risking decorating the shed in wheat beer whilst bottling from the cornie and brining a bottle of foam, I think i'll opt for the much more tame Porter
Cheers,
Jamie

I'm pondering bringing a bottle of brown (aswell as the Bish), just to dilute the amount of pale we'll be tasting. See you later.

That formed part of my reasoning as wellMaltloaf wrote: just to dilute the amount of pale we'll be tasting.

Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
Cheers for another great evening drinking beer and "talking toot". The bishops brew-off results were interesting. Well done to Drew for getting the most votes.
I'm still disappointed in the lack of cascade aroma now in my beer. It seemed to have tons up until bottling. Perhaps jubby is right about the unimpressive cascade hops available atm?
Anyone going to the Cambridge Beer Festival? When will you be there? I'm thinking of going Friday afternoon/evening if anybody is going?
Oh, and was it Bruges or Brussels for the beer trip, or was that just toot talking?

Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
I volunteered at the Beer festival, on Sunday, during the set up and it was great fun. I got to learn some stuff about Cellarmanship, test beers to see if they were in good condition and do some lifting and carrying. I can recommend Windsor & Eton - Conqueror, and the Jaipur (obviously).
I'm gunna go and volunteer again tomorrow morning (Tuesday) and I'll most likely be there Tuesday and Wednesday evening one way or another.
As for Belgium, I definitely want to go before the end of the year. I've read that there won't be a Bruges beer festival in 2011 (next one is Feb 2012) so it could be Brussels or just a trip to Belgium when there isn't a beer festival (cos there is still plenty of beer)
Drew.

Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
I'm glad you all had a good meet-up. I'll be at the beer fest tomorrow (Tuesday) an Wednesday - look out for me shaking a bucket for Cambs Search and Rescue, and have some coins at the ready!
Cheers,
Jamie

Re: Cambridge JBK member meeting
I'd have kept an eye out if I'd read Jim's earlier as I was at the Cambridge Queuing Festival last night. All the volunteer staff were working like crazy but it wasn't enough, once it got busy I cashed in my glass and got a pasty instead!
Some good beers up 'til then though, I'd thoroughly recommend Liverpool Organic's Josephine Butler - cracking beer.
Cheers,
ML.
