Don't tell us that! Just imagine if we had stayed though, Eric and I would have been sleeping under a railway arch.

Having an even better night tonight as sipping my way through your RIS, wow! This is some beer! Nice work, it's absolutely beautiful, in fact the correct word is sublime.

Thank you (b)

What a beer that RIS is, took me a couple of hours to work May way through and loved it. Also slept splendidly well after that, thanks again

Haven't had a chance to try the RIS yet but did have Demig pinging me last night for two hours about how he was enjoying it :P
Glad you enjoyed the brown ale, We both also it turned out decent in the end.
Going to be away for a week but then planning on opening the RIS and the beers from Alix. We have ingredients for a RIS brew in Jan/Feb so we can fill a sankey with it and leave it to mature (I think you have the right idea to brew it at that time of the year and hopefully ours will turn out decent too, I tried one recently that was opened after a year conditioning and unfortunately ended up tasting of marmite).
Will ping you about that beer engine when I get back after Xmas as well if you are still after one?

That reminds me I must put the second beer engine back together and see if it's ok. It's yours if it works ok.

It certainly was a big beer and I probably was annoying craig messaging him about how good it was last night :).

Craig's effort that, I wasn't there for that brew day assuming that was the chestnut one? I was providing advice on messenger as he kept cocking up the brew day :)

Turned out well though!

Btw what are people's thoughts re the next date and venue? Obviously Craig and I would love it to be in Newcastle again... dates wise I'm pretty busy in January, second week in Feb would be good for me

Cheers guys, it was just EKG in it and fermented with WLP005 but it did also have real roasted chestnuts in it :D
Had a bit of a nightmare brew day with this one. It started out brilliantly as I had prepped everything the night before so was wrapped up by mid morning or so I thought... I tried the Malt Miller's custom recipe pack for the first time, fantastic and easy to use until I was cleaning up at the end and saw the pack 1 of 2 on the malt! Turns out I had missed out all the crystal and dark crystal out of the recipe :( I did have to mess about with the boil length as I had missed my targets earlier but didn't realise why, so pulled out my water bath to mash the crystal malts with about 400g of pils malt I had to use up to add in some diastic power, gave it a very quick boil and then threw in the fv.
Funny thing was I was very careful in checking that there were not 2 hop packets but didn't even think there might be two malt bags.

Anyone have any thoughts on a N/E venue for a January meet up ?

Was there any further progress, on getting Leo to agree to let us come to his brewery in Newcastle to have a bottle opening night.
As its January and some may be short of funds, it could be fun to bring bottles of our own and try them.

All are welcome to the meet. New brewers or experienced are welcome.

I know there isn't much of February left but is anyone keen on a meet up this month or maybe beginning of March?
