Ten hour brewday

Post by David Edge » Tue Oct 16, 2007 7:12 pm

Mashed in at 09:55 - pitched at 20:00.

In the fermenters:
40 litres cooking bitter
40 litres elderflower bitter
35 litres 1066 IPA.
Mustn't grumble. Will get round to explaining the detail sometime. But a bonus to only have to clean the kit once!

The picture shows copper (left), spray for peracetic acid and spent hops from IPA sitting on false bottom dripping into copper lid.

So that's 115 litres or 25 gallons

Up to now, it's been taking me about seven hours to produce five gallons

That's all explained here http://www.craftbrewing.org.uk/herbsspices/ It was one of the first pieces of collaboration between CBA and JHBF.

Well it takes us six hours; it's just you get another brew for every two hours you can keep going.
Well done David and crew.
Ah well; 'and crew' is much of the secret!

Bloody marvellous! I was going to say, did you rope in Janette and Ralf as well? The most I've ever attempted in one go is 15 gallons of 1040 bitter. 2 mashes, 2 boils, and 3 fermentations. Only had 5 gallon bucket gear then. I swore 'never again!'. Guess what, I've never done it again! :D ...wait a minute..I still have 5 gallon bucket gear.
