if i remember correctly it was good , well, i cant rememebr a bad brew this year at least 
the sugar adds a bit of smoothness and background treacly flavour - god i sound like a real ale tw@t now 
it just adds a bit of mellow background flavour i reckon . cant do any harm anyway good luck with your brew mate
