Mash on for 5pm - all going to plan.

One thing of note - that roasting of the oats isn't half a smelly business. We could smell it right through the house last night.

:( I have not been sucessful in my oatmeal stout attempt there is a harsh burnt taste which i hoped [and still do] would mellow its been a couple of months maturing but this taste has not yet recinded.Should i just take a sip every couple of months hoping for improvement or is there a means of masking this burnt taste?

Where do you think it's come from SAT?
Have you got any any of the roast malt left...I can only think it would add that sort of taste :?
How did you crush the raost malt - or did it come pre crushed?
I can't imagine you toasting the oats to such an extent as to get that sort of flavour :!:
