brewday 11-5 Summer ale

Had some extra pale malt kicking around and a largale that just finish so decided to brew and throw it on the slurry.

5.2 kg of maris extra pale

35g challenger 90
30g goldings 15
20g goldings dry
whirilifloc 15 min
SA04 slurry from previous batch

have been doing single batch sparge recently as a tase experiment, very happy with it usually get 63-64% today 57 but think that was the hop schedule change to 2/3 90 1/3 15 for bittering so more hops to soak up my jucies.

boiled the water and added 10g cacl and 10g caso4 mashed for some time no idea really was playing with the kids but thinking back probably was not long enough have been doing 2 1/2 hours or bnq trip mashes recently.

under sparged the mash ho hum but was using a new measuring stick, now has another hole.

boiled until the ic top hoop was above wort, a very scientific measure I know.

Had not taken into account extra hops so lost more wort there

dropped it onto slurry after cooling and it took off like a rocket never used a blow off tube before especially with 17l in a 35l fermenter this beast is ALIVE!

am using fan and wet towel with tray of water as cooling but imagine this baby will be finished by tomorrow anyway at the rate it is going!

I should be getting my house contents back soon so will be able to resume photographing then.
