adm/Vossy:

Evening chaps! :)

I did not use the March Pump today because I wanted to prove to Myself that I could still brew without the luxury of a pump. Only used it to clean in place before the brewing started because I don't have to use so much caustic that way.

I wanted to include a pic of the plate heat exchanger being used but got sidetracked by telesales ringing the phone till they got an answer. I gave them their answer and they didn't like what they heard!

All in all I'm pleased with the results but did not have a taste of the wort this time which is something I nearly always do for quality control purposes! :)

I've got my kids queuing up now for tastings for the first wort. At first they hated it, now they love it.

They don't like it so much after it's been boiled and had the hops added though!

I lived in a downstairs flat a few years ago and the upstairs tenant would come down into the yard when I was brewing.

I used to get Him to sample the first wort and the boiled wort and was always amused at the look on His face because He could not believe that it would be transformed into something very differant in a couple or three weeks.

He was always eager to drink the final product and We had some good times while it lasted.

EDIT/

I'll have to get a tap/filter fitted to the Thermobox as It's a PITA transferring the mash into a stockpot.

Re-calculated brewhouse efficiency at 73% so slightly down on the last one.

Thanks for the edit BZ. I wondered how the thermobox contents got into the SS pot.

Nice photos. For how to deal with telesales people see the greatest prank phone call in the taproom. I don't know how the prankster didn't bust up after the first 20 seconds.

Well it's 45hrs since pitching the Nottingham and the gravity is now at 1.008

OG was 1.044 so 36 gravity points in 45hrs is fine by Me.

The aroma from the Bobek hops is heaven scent!

Really citrus and mouthwatering.

Can't wait to sample it when I keg it in a few days time.

I'll be using Bobek again if the taste is anything like the aroma!

Transferred 20L to a cornie today. The other 20L I've left sitting on the yeast cake in primary. I'll compare them both to see what if any changes occur between the two.

I tasted some of the one I put in the cornie and I am amazed how much flavour Bobek has for such a low AA of 3%. Beautiful flavour and aroma.
Will be using this little gem again soon.

Hey Vossy how's it going!

I'm pleased with the Munich and Caramalt too.

Long live Barley Bottom!
