just like to add that the wit finally did come good but it was a long wait and TBH i wouldn't be in a hurry to brew it again what with the waiting and waiting.

Glad to hear it mate. Everytime a Beer goes down the drain God kills a Bartender...or something...

The results of the experiment:
I was a little chuffed (is that the right term) that not one correct recipe made it into the kettle and have yet to brew with the same gang again. We couldn't manage a tasting event with all of us, so the comparison was of only two batches. Both beers were a little thin due to incorrect mashing and could have used the full amount of hops. The White Labs yeast in the bottle provided a more true Wit taste than the Wyeast in the keg. Yes the keg beer was a bit more filtered, but the sampling was done with an early poor from the bottle. It was only my second White labs yeast and I was impressed yet again.
