Brewed today (yesterday now). I gave my dad a list of 6 hops that I need to use up and told him to pick three from the list and I guesstimated a recipe. Here is what we've brewed and is now fermenting nicely :-

-- Prepare Ingredients for Mash
Amount Item Type
5.00 kg Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) Grain
0.16 kg Wheat, Torrified (1.7 SRM) Grain
0.25 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain

Boil for 90 min Boil Ingredients
Boil Amount Item Type
90 min 30.00 gm Brewer's Gold [4.60 %] (90 min) Hops
90 min 30.00 gm Pioneer [9.30 %] (90 min) Hops
15 min 20.00 gm Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (15 min) Hops
15 min 1.00 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
0 min 10.00 gm Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (0 min) Hops

-- Add Ingredients to Fermenter
Amount Item Type
2 Pkgs Nottingham Yeast (Lallemand #-) Yeast-Ale

Measured OG was 1.050, it'll certainly be an interesting brew. :)

Parva you are mental, I love it :lol: , should not be too much problem with flavour and aroma as just the amarillo will be dominant, hop levels mind are way out there I make it ibu~60 in a 1050 :shock: hope you are not planning on drinking it in the next few months or you like your beer HOPPY.

next time as a rule of thumb, times the grams by the alpha % divide by ten then add half again, it should be roughly 3/4 the og so in you case

30x4.6= 138
30x9.3=279 279+138=417
417/10=41.7
41.7 + 20.8= 62.5

as apposed to 3/4 of 50 = 37.5

but if you are a hop head then fair do's

Would "5" do ;)?

i.e.:

weight x aa% = 5 x og
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

Well as my name implies why say it in such a succinct manner when we can go all round the houses to get the same effect.
:lol:
