Hi,

Where do you get your nice 'Shiney' Boil pot from? Loving that!

Nice set up there.

Does anyone have links for the Guys you mentioned selling hops for £3.70?

No local answers I'm afraid....but:

The pot is from MoreBeer in the US. www.morebeer.com

I took advantage of a business trip to hand carry it back when the exchange rate was a bit better.

As for the hops, www.craftbrewer.com.au ....in Australia of all places! If you order a few packs of hops (to spread the postage, which isn't that bad) they work out cheaper than you can buy the same for here! Shipping takes about a week.

Wow. This beer is lovely.

It's crystal clear, has a fantastic floral aroma and a thick creamy head. Lovely golden colour and it tastes great. It's soooooo smoooooooth.

I'd better get some more....

A cracking looking pint. I like the set up you have there. Did you brew with the Northdown yet?

Not yet.....I've got a fridge full of hops and about 10 priority recipes in my head though.....

I'm thinking about doing this exact same recipe but with Northdowns next week.

I need to do an APA and another Stout some time this week though!

Funnily enough, I thought this beer was going to be nasty....

The first couple of pints I tried had a very faint whiff of....well....vomit really! I have no idea why, but it was definitely there.

Thankfully, after another week, the smell had changed completely to a beautiful clean floral aroma.

I agree, strange smells can appear in a beer and then go with time. My worst was a strong odour of a mature rotten chesse, mmn, nasty. I think its the S04 yeast so i am going to stick with windsor and nottingham for a while for my dry yeast beers.
We are all learning at this. It never fails to amaze me how brewing beer is a simple process and its not hard to get a good tasting beer. BUT when you get into into it its like a fractal pattern, theres always more to see. Right, i'm off to take some of my antipsychotics.....
