AG #20 Challenger/Progress Bitter
Re: AG #20 Challenger/Progress Bitter
No Torrifed Wheat
How will you get a decent head on it
Seriously though that looks like a nice, simple, quick to mature beer.

Re: AG #20 Challenger/Progress Bitter
Nice to see a simple recipe which newcomers like me can get our head around! Hows it going? You must be approaching the end about now?
I'm also planning a bitter in the next week so I'll take some inspiration from your nice straightforward recipe. I want to aim for an OG around 1040 and I have Pale Malt and some Crystal which I was planning to use along with a bit of Crushed Wheat. I also have some Chocolate Malt which I thought I'd maybe use 100g of to give a bit of darker colour. I've already got plenty Fuggles and was planning to buy Challenger for bittering.

Re: AG #20 Challenger/Progress Bitter
Yeah all finished and in the FV, also cleaned up as well.
Usually i do add wheat but i brewed a Conistone Bluebird Bitter Clone
a while back that just used Challenger, and Pale Malt and that turned out
really nice, so nice it didn`t last 2 mins, i would have brewed that again but
didn`t have enough Challenger left so wanted to use some Progress with it as
i havn`t used any Progress in a brew for ages.
Farmhouse keg, if you are after a simple bitter that is easy to do i`d go for the
Conistone Bluebird Bitter Clone, the recipe is on the site, but if i were to do it again
i would have bunged some more hops in near the end, but i like my beers more on the
hoppy side anyway.

Re: AG #20 Challenger/Progress Bitter
Cheers Haz, a quick search revealed two different recipes so I'll take a look at those. I also like mine hoppy so I might increase the late hops like you said.haz66 wrote:Farmhouse keg, if you are after a simple bitter that is easy to do i`d go for the

Re: AG #20 Challenger/Progress Bitter
I`ll run something through the beer calculator and see what i can come up with.
