It's difficult to say, they both have similar carbonation and both are incredibly smooth but that is down to the recipe, you have to use the Carafa III to get the smoothness it's great, apparently Carafa III is really similar to Roast Barley but it has no husk, no husk = less bitterness.

with some beers the difference stands out a mile, with my Galaxy IPA for instance, the cornie can be a little harsh especially if it's carbed a bit more than the bottle, but with the FSS they are near identical.

My next go at this will have a different hop in it just to see the difference but I have enjoyed my 2 batches of this. We have quite soft water round these parts and I put this down as the reason I always make decent porters and stouts, never done a bad one, and obviously, darkness hides a multitude of sins......

go on, get it brewed you know you want to.

Great, I've ordered the carafa III especially for this recipe. I also ordered pale chocolate and I hope thats what was sent! It says 500EBC on the packet, I just hope that's what is in the bag!

Cheers

Thinking about the cascade......I've used cascade in a dark beer as an aroma addition (which won't be the case in the stout) and remember being disappointed with the result, I used enough but the aroma wasn't as pronounced as I had hoped so maybe it will be alright after all! Tasted great though :D

What was I concerned about  I'll probably First Wort Hop it as well, as is my current trend :)
