AG 1 and 2 after 11yr break

Post by bikedoc » Mon Feb 23, 2009 6:07 pm

After 11yrs break the opportunity to brew 400 pts for daughters wedding and get a new brewery out of it - too good to miss.
H and G 10 gall 2 element / thermo kit eventually arrived
no more old grain bag - copper manifolds, real taps, better boilers, HLT , immersion chiller - Dave Line would have approved!
Arkell's Kingsdown ale 50 lit - on sat am / pm -DONE
Youngs Special varient 25l, with extra spare 500gm pale extract incorporated - DONE
2 new yeasts - safale s04 and another - now working
Great smell back in the house
imp - new kit's better than the old
1st sparge / boil got 1044 with a 1047 target - malt's good and need to tighten the volume measurement - do people allow for the dead space below the tap or is level 0 the base of the FV and the boiler?
new websites good - both here and beer alchemy
racking will be easier
3x10 gall batches left to do -Morells, Varsity and a Fullers ESB for the wedding
then for me a big batch of Irish Stout and maybe with a co2 / n2 gas injection.
welcome back to real ale brewing

Welcome back to brewing bikedoc. Some things have changed a little but im guessing its still mostly the same as what you used to do all them years ago.

Sounds like you had a fun filled few days brewing and it all went well. Nothing like a home smelling like a brewery and all them loverly fermenters bubbeling away to keep you company.

Hope it all turns out well for you.
