Bottled the 5 gallons of mild yesterday and rescued about 200ml of Fullers slurry from the bottom of the fermenter so I'm gonna use it today in a best bitter, along the lines of London Pride. The last time I tried to brew this, it was a bit of a failure (suspected infection).

So, it's just mashing now at 66C:

4.4 kg Maris Otter
160g Crystal
360g Flaked Maize

Aiming for 23L @ 1.047 ish

Hop schedule will be (all going well):

15g Challenger (7.1%) - 60min
15g Northdown (7.9%) - 60min
15g EKG (5.6%) - 60min
15g Northdown - 15min

Right, off to do the shopping - shall continue later...

All done with about 25L @ 1045 so not far off expected (should have boiled a little harded for longer to get it up to 1047).

Piccies! (Not so many as I found the batteries were flat at the start...):

Post boil break and hops:

Used grain waiting for the composter:

Yeast slurry in a 1L starter - raring to go by the time I pitched it in - looked like a lava lamp!
