AG No 4 with pics

Well, having read TOO MUCH on water treatment over the last week I set about No 4 with a different viewpoint.

The last 3 have given me routine, scenario and beer to drink; now it was time to get technical...

Prep'd my liquor last night (2x20l) add a tsp of Gypsum a piece, cool, rack & add a tsp of Epsom salts to each..

Got the boiler back on this morning whilst still deciding what recipe to go for.... decided on Lucky 7.. (Changed the progress to fuggles tho) then used Bobek for flame out..

So mash on; temps/volumes good..with a PH of 5.2 :)

Last minute decision to modify my splatter guard hop strainer for my original idea of a s/steel camping plate...

I managed to complete it 89 mins into my mash! :) :)

I also swapped out my copper sparge manifold for a simple gravity fed watering can head, which gave a great spread and mist...

Aimed for 19l, came out with 21.. Got an efficiency of 98.2?????

Pre boil 1039
SG 1048

The strainer worked a treat and the whole day went fantastic.... Really happy!

The best bit is that my Pendle Witches Brew has now matured and is clear as day and very very palatable; I even took it next door to a neighbours family BBQ and it got the thumbs up...

Anyway, enough slavering... here's the promised pics.....

Very nice. I like the hop filter. What bits (pipes/connectors) did you use to connect it together? I'm inspired!

Thanks..

Just 15mm copper pipe, 90 Deg Elbow and a tank connector, easy and cheap as chips..

I used US-05 and it started away at 24Deg.. The smell from the air lock (milk carton/1/2" tube) is unbelievable..

Thanks for the heads up on that one

Rick

It's just a big airlock as with the current temps I thought it could go ballistic!
