I'm going AG but while I wait for my AG order I decided to use up some DME on my second extract brew.
This time the GW Old Speckled Hen recipe. I changed my method very slightly this time and I think I increased the hop utilisation in doing so. One of the slight problems with my brakspear clone was the lack of bitterness - even though it's turned out to be a very easy drinking pint.
This time I'd say it's spot on - although I've only sampled from the trial jar after 5 days in the FV. This time there is a very nice bitterness to the brew.
It's dropped from 1050 to 1014 in 5 days so I'll keep an eye on it and probably keg it mid next week.
EXT #2 - OSH Clone
Re: EXT #2 - OSH Clone
I used S04 this time. Eventually I'd like to do a Brakspear recipe with some Whitelabs WPL0023 yeast but for now I'm keeping it simple until I've gained a bit more experience

Re: EXT #2 - OSH Clone
I must admit that I'm very pleased with my OSH clone. GWs recipe really does seem to capture its essence IMHO.
Best wishes
