AG7 4 Shades of Stout

Post by rick_huggins » Wed Jul 08, 2009 11:35 am

So, started my first stout yesterday thanks to Garth and it went pretty well!

Brewlength 23L

MO 3.250Kg
Flaked Barely 500g
Amber Malt 250g
Chocolate Malt 250g
Roasted Barley 200g
Carafa 3 200g

90 Mins
NZ Cascade 49g

S04

Pre-boil 1033
SG 1040
Efficiency 86%

It smelt amazing, really looking forward to one of these puppies.

Currently bubbling away at 19 Deg and some scum has made it down the hose into my blow off trap! :)

Thanks again

Rick

I'll be doing that as soon as my Malt and Hops arrive from Hop and Grape.

What sort of IBU's are you looking at there?

I was going to reduce my Cascade to 40 grams so as to get closer to 40 and not 50 IBUs.

I got my ingredients from H&G this time too.

IBU was 39.5
