Hello,

Just cooling now, but I've used my own Challenger from the garden so am keen to see if this comes out good  The hops were full of little yellow resin sacks even though they seemed to go everywhere as well :)

Here's the recipe I used:

23L @ 62% efficiency, 90min mash @ 65.5°C, 90 min boil
Ingredients
Amount Item Type % or IBU
4.23 kg Maris Otter (5.9 EBC) Grain 94.87 %
0.23 kg Wheat Malt, Bel (3.9 EBC) Grain 5.13 %
40.00 gm Challenger [6.20 %] (90 min) Hops 28.3 IBU
13.00 gm Mt. Hood [6.00 %] (15 min) Hops 4.6 IBU
20.00 gm Mt. Hood [6.00 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -
1 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) Yeast-Ale

Beer Profile
Est Original Gravity: 1.038 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.008 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 3.93 %
Bitterness: 32.9 IBU
Est Color: 8.6 EBC

Fingers crossed.

Just running off now. Hydro tasted sweet with a firm bitterness :)

Sounds like all went to plan. JHBs a lovely drop, yet another on my 'to brew' list #-o

I love JHB. My Boxshed Hop Jugger (BHJ) was brewed in March to have similar appeal to JHB (here and here), and has gone down very well, so I bet you'll be on to a winner with this one! From memory I think I went with US-05 though.

Surprisingly wheaty, nothing kickass about it, an easy drinking pale ordinary bitter. Balanced in an english sense.
