Oyster Stout

I decided to have a go at making an Oyster Stout at the start of the year, I was not 100% confident how it would turn out so decided to only make a small amount of it Oyster Stout and the majority of the batch a pretty standard Stout. Last night I cracked a bottle a bottle of it open, and bloody hell I wish I'd made more, it was lovely. Slightly odd brew length:

30 Litre Post Boil

Golden Promise 6 Kg
Medium Crystal 750g
Flaked Barley 450g
Choc Malt 450g
Roasted Barley 300g
Rolled Oats (Porridge Oats Roasted) 300g
Caramalt 150g
Black Malt 150g

60 Min Boil

German Northern Brewer 75g @ 60 Min
UK Fuggle 30g @ 60 Min
12 Oysters Shucked in the boil 10 min from the end (Note this was for 10 Litres the other 20 Litres was kept as a std stout)

So4 Yeast

Beer was bottled.

Going to make a larger batch of this soon, the oysters gave a subtle briny / sea taste to it that worked really well.

You wouldn't find those in any Oyster Stouts commercially made!

I've had the pleasure of drinking ISLAND OYSTER and it is a cracking beer! As are all of their beers

Yep cracking beers from the brewery and a really nice bunch as well. Had a good couple of days staying down there, nice location and great seafood.
