First Brew Day. Trying to emulate a Brewdog Trashy Blonde but @ 5%.
Okay, here we go.
Boiler on 7.25am. 29L. ImageBoiling at 9am, Image just in time for Fuse, my mentor, to arrive to assist.Image
Weigh out grains: 4.45kg MO, + 100g Crystal malt.Image
Into the MT at 75°C (68°C ST) Imagefor 90 min with a good stir.Image
Re-circ Sparge with ~60L (now considering pumped option )Image
About 7.5L into FV.
Fill with remaining water, and re-sparge for 30 min.
Draw off and re-circ until clear, ~ 40L.[http://www.flickr.com/photos/50285967@N04/4616327667/](
Into the boiler. Once upto boil, add:Imagev
25g Simco hops - 90min Image
10g Amarillo hops - 15min Image
10g Ahtanum hops - 15 min
Chiller in to sterilize.Image
40g Amarillo - 0min
40g Ahtanum - 0 min.
Steep - 30min.Image
Chiller on for 30 min.
Sterilize FV with VWP for ~30 min, rinse x3.
Pour off into FV. ~ 19L. ImageImage
Check hydrometer reading - 1.054. Image
Sprinkle sachet of S-04, lid on, and put to rest.Image
All done by 3.30pm.
Okay, the technical stuff: (thanks to Beer Engine)
11.4L mash vol
28.5L total vol.
OG 1.050
FG 1.012
Efficiency 70%
Final vol - 19L
Now, clearly being my first brew I haven't a clue what all this means.
Several elbows worth of grease later, all kit ready for next brew tomorrow. AG#2 will be a dark brew. Watch this space.
Once I've figured out how to add pics, this will be updated.
Thanks to Leyland for boiler, H&G for chiller and small malts, BorisCharlton for hops, Fuse for mash tun, Wilko's for accesories, and local brew shop for MO grain and bits.
Power to the AG'ers.
Gothamite.
Sorry for the delay, and not all in the right order, but hey not bad for first ever AG brewday.
Will nowupload photos for AG#2 and submit.
Hooray, AG#3 come Sunday!!!

Yep, you need to attach the photos by clicking on the 'Img' button and inserting the link, as opposed to trying to upload them as a URL, which you have done. No worries though!

Sounds like a nice recipe BTW

You could also open a photobucket account & attach your pics from there, Chris wrote a "how to" here.

Well done on your 1st ag brew btw, I'm sure that you will be delighted with it.

First FG reading tonight came out as 1.020. First impression was pretty decent, with a very lemony aroma and a good bitter taste.
Will check reading again tomorrow, but nowhere near the 1.012 that BeerEngine suggests. Looks like it's a waiting game for me!
