Mental hopping, indeed. IBU ?

Soooooo..............people who drink Fosters and WKD Blue don't like your beer ? Their taste clearly doesn't run to anything with flavour !!
You like it, and that's all that matters !

having a fooking nightmare today treated 55litres of sparge water heated it up and some strange looking material was coming off the heating elements i tried catching the first lot with a sieve. as soon as a got the first lot out it was coming back again. then one element tripped out. only used them once before and i cleaned them well after so it wasnt hop material from the last brew there was loads of stuff in the end in the bottom of the bucket. really considering whether i should of used that water now as who knows what the stuff was?

then everything went well until cooling the part that screws onto the cold tap inside blew off sending water every where and now i have no way of cooling unless i goto town. what are the best type of connectors that screw onto the cold tap i have bought three different types now and all are c rap!

part two of a bad day indeed

well that was my first BAD brew day everything went wrong. the hop stopper blocked and then i put my arm in the boiler to sort it out then realised i hadnt even washed my hands and i had been doing the garden and tidying around the garden.... moved some hops around started run off again it run off for 2 minutes then stopped so i started pouring the wort into the fermenter through a sieve that did work to some extent put now i have 4 inches of break material in my fermenter. then tried running of another 20litres hoping the blockage may of gone. it worked ok then thank god. but then realised i have lost 5-6litres of beer to the 300grams of hops in there !

what a stupid day i doubt this beer will ever make bottles making that a loss of nearly £30 or more

off to drown my sorrows

was on course for a 5 hour brew day to :(

I use a washing machine inlet hose connection to the water supply for the er...washing machine. It keeps my sink free, and run off into a waterbutt (usually overflowing by the end). I couldn't find a tap connector that I was happy with so thought about alternatives.
£5 ish from B&Q. The only pain is remembering to reconnect the washing machine thus avoiding the scream from SWMBO :D .

well took a hyrometer sample down to 1020 with us-05 at 16oc fermenting not bad. had a sneaky taste and its weird smells of tobacco then the taste is blank nothing there then a very smooth mouth feel then a all mighty bitterness that warms the throat. after all that went wrong got good intentions now !

s04 as finished @ 1010 leave till next monday. and i have just started the us-05 to ferment @ 20oc to finish it off and hopefully no diacetyl
