AG8 Summer Rainbow - Elderflower Ale

Summer is here and the elderflower is blooming. It made a pleasant addition to a Wherry kit last year, so I'm trying my own recipe.

I am using a small amount of challenger as the bittering hop and a few Goldings to complement the elderflower. Hopefully the dark crystal will add a slight burnt toffee flavour as well as a deep red colour.

3750g Pale Malt
250g Dark Crystal Malt
100g Torrefied Wheat
400g Sugar

38g Challenger @ 90 mins
10g Golding @ 10 mins
38g Elderflower @ 5 mins
5g Golding @ 0 mins

Wyeast 1469 - West Yorkshire Ale Yeast

Final Volume: 23 Litres
Original Gravity: 1.049
Final Gravity: 1.009
Alcohol Content: 5.2% ABV
Total Liquor: 33.8 Litres
Mash Liquor: 10.3 Litres
Mash Efficiency: 80%
Bitterness: 34 EBU
Colour: 33 EBC

I had a good brewday last thursday and it is fermenting nicely at 20C in my new temperature controlled brewfridge.

Mmm... I'm brewing my Honey and Elderflower ale soon. Best summer brew EVER!
