Coopers English Bitter 1.7KG
Coopers Amber Malt (LME) 1.5KG
30g Fuggles leaf hops
1KG Maris Otter Pale malt
250g Rolled Oats
100g Biscuit malt
kit yeast + Coopers Ale yeast so 14g total
28L tesco spring water (14 bottles) just in case

8L mash at 68C, Maris Otter, oats and biscuit malt, 60mins
Batch sparge 2L of water 72C

Transfer wort to boil pan, bring to boil 5mins
add hops for 20min boil
flame out add LME, test temp, at 90C add kit, stir like crazy.
Add 10L water from freezer, water at 1 to 2C so near freezing.
Note around 19L wort, 1L boiled off (hard to believe but it looks like it did)
Add 1L water, stil like crazy, test gravity, note at 20L its at 1.070
Transfer to fermenter, add paint stirrer to drill, batter wort for 5 mins, test gravity again...still 1.070
Add 2L water, still to high, add around 1L water, gravity around 1.053...that will do :D

So all in I ended up at 23L brew length for 1.053, no added sugar, just malt and mash. Wanted to see if a more traditional taste would come thru with the fuggles, 20min boil is just for taste, I will dry hop with 20g the same once the beer is fermented out.

Wort is a little thicker than normal, going for that thicker texture like the brown ale im on with. Now I just need to find 46 500ML bottles to put this into ;)

4 days and its near fermented out, sat right now at 1.013, using the refractometer it was sat at 13.8 and now sat at 6.9.

Was expecting another week to sup the beer out the barrel its going into....looks like I need to get going to make room for it ;)
